Welcome to Mr Steve Productions! My name is Stephen Goldsmith (AKA Mr Steve). I completed an MA in Sound Design in 2000 and spent fifteen years working throughout the location and post audio production chain in London (UK) then moved to Adelaide with my family. Here I have my own studio + field recording equipment and have carried on working with local, interstate and international content and also lecturing/ tutoring for UniSA.

This site has three functions:

1)Online CV: To find out a bit about me as an individual and the services I offer (dubbing mixer, sound editor, foley, location sound etc) for employment purposes then click along the tabs at the top.

You can verify my work using this imdb link or I can put you in touch with people I have worked with for references etc..

2) Audio blog. I like to write a little about the projects I have been working on and give updates on screenings, trailers etc.. EIther scroll down or use tabs/tag cloud on the left to look up specific films.

3) Extras: A place to post and distribute some of my side projects.

Hope you enjoy the site. Drop me a line using the contact tab if you want to get in touch.

I enjoyed creating the foley for this film as I got to experiment and find lots of creative solutions- I had to cover a giant walking octopus, a sentient tree, humanoid rabbits, assorted robots and all sorts of weird and wacky props and events varying from spaceship crashes to dream sequences. The clip below gives a sense of one of the worlds that the characters inhabit . The award nomination was the icing on the cake.

I worked as dialogue editor for all eight epsodes. It can be very challenging to clean up sound for a period drama set in the countryside- there is nowhere to hide when filtering out planes/ cars. The New South Wales  cicadas and birds were often busy. The trailer is below, and the show is currently available via SBS on Demand.

I completed the sound design and mix for this short drama back in 2021 (lots of good dialogue editing and sound design by Leah Mckeown + Foley by Baylon Fonseca). It has had a good festival run picking up a lot of gongs along the way including this prize at the South Australia Screen Awards. If you are Australia based you can click here for link to view it on SBS on demand.

“This is going straight to the pool room”(If the reference means nothing, click here for a link to a clip from ‘The Castle’ ). Photo just in from my UK press office AKA my mum’s kitchen table. ‘Who Killed The KLF’ covers the stranger than fiction story of the UK band. Following on from a theatrical release It is currently  available to stream on SBS in Australia and More 4 in the UK. It’ll make you laugh, dance/tap your feet then either think “OK, so that was what they thought they were thinking, but WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING?” or it may just inspire you to do something bold and wreckless..(Maybe don’t do the bold and wreckless thing they did though, you’ll very probably regret it!)

You can view information on Savage Rivers award nominations visible using this IMDB link. Nb I posted more info on Savage River back in February 2023 when it was AACTA nominated for best sound in TV.

I did the sound design and mix for this short scripted film, based on real events. The synopsis is “On the cusp of his initiation, a young Aboriginal boy, Mungo, has a chance encounter with James Ashton and his travelling circus in 1853” I have just found out that it won this prize among others on a good festival run- A relief as the film was finalised as COVID was starting to get going so I didn’t know what was going to happen  . It was shot near  Tamworth (New South Wales) there was a lot of scope to immerse the audience in the sound of the Australian bush and then contrast this with circus sounds,. More information on the film and the prizes it has picked up is available at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12319304/awards/?ref_=tt_awd

I worked on the foley for this show. All shot in Queensland, it made me want to get out of the studio and on a plane. I’ve been an Australian citizen -on paper- for a year but now I’ve covered a season in Bryan Brown’s blundstone boots I feel a fraction closer to being ‘dinky di’. Use this link to go to the ABC site. ACORN TV trailer is below.
